Following the Weekend... (04/27/2020)
So its Monday.... And trying to remember the weekend!! It was a little hectic Saturday. Worked a little bit on the garden. I began switching to a container garden two years ago when it started to get harder for me to keep up on the regular garden. Last year, I did a full container garden, so this year, its more of a maintainence and improvement. We added an irrigation system last year called Rain Bird brand that Menards carries. Added a timer that had a volume control and worked out pretty well. The biggest issue with the garden last year was the periods of high temps. Its been frustrating this year in trying to get the seeds started. I've had several seedlings die, totally my fault! I forgot that the soil I had was for the container garden and that it maintained a high level of water, so, desimated them! Restarted them but did not get the seeds marked as to what is in what pot. It will be interesting as my dad would say!
The stay at home has been a little trying in not being able to run out and grab what you want. Its been all planning, combined trips and a lot of doing without. Saturday, I told hubby that IHop sounded amazing for lunch. We put together a shopping list that he would purchase while I placed the order. I wasn't able to get the food ordered online and no answer at the restaurant. I went back to my old pal Google, who informed me that IHop was closed for now. Bummer. Hubby tells me of Red Lobster having a fish and chips special. Called to order and message stating that they too were closed. So, while he went in search of a decent cake for our son Daniel's birthday, he just picked up some entrees from the grocery. Unfortunately, from the restaurant issue, my brain started nagging as to how well Arby's would taste. We got home, groceries put away, got everyone's entrees heated and went to work. I love the turkey gyros Arby's has. I Googled a recipe and found several. I like the AllRecipes site as you can save your favorites and found a pita recipe called Chef John's Pita Bread. Read through all the comments and even with the negatives, it still had a 4 1/2 star rating. The recipe was very easy to follow and everyone agreed it turned out great. So, I got my turkey gyro ala Arby's style!

Sunday was my day to get a couple of projects done since it rained. All day. I finally got the lapghan done. It took me a little longer than I had planned but at least finished it. I wanted to add a border and couldn't really decide on one I liked so I created one.
And the finished product!
This was a great stash buster and glad we're donating these. Mom is doing a green one, so when she gets closer to finish, I will try to have a pic of hers.
After I finished the lapghan, I took the time to make the mug sleeve my daughter Rachel had asked for a month ago. I got some yellow cotton yarn from my mom's stash and went basic on it. I used an "H" hook, chained 19, worked half doubles for 18 stitches across and about 20 rows. Again, all this based on your own gauge to fit properly. Came out decent and she appreciated it.
Yesterday added a little more spring in my step. Hubby was able to book some days at some of the campsites!! So excited for this!! A quiet weekend for us and then a 4 day family vacay at the Hills. I can't wait! I will try to remember to post some of my favorite pix from the parks soon.
Well, that's all for now! Have a great rest of your day and God bless!
