Spring Gardening & Products, 03/22/2021

 Good morning all! A beautiful morning here in Ohio, a balmy 58F degrees right now. I've been busy outside getting my garden ready for planting. I was able to get the additional 4 beds and just got them assembled this morning.

Here is my current garden. Still cleaning and weeding yet, so don't mind the mess!

This is the side view. Wanted you to see the nifty spigot with hose reel. I plan on getting another steel flexible garden hose. I haven't taken an inventory yet of the watering system, but pretty sure I still need to get more of the bubbler tops and stakes. We picked up a plastic walk-in greenhouse while we were out this weekend. I plan on putting it up this afternoon and getting my seedlings out there. I will add those pictures of the greenhouse later. Here is my seedlings so far.

The cabbages on the far end are already an inch long! I was surprised at how quickly they sprouted. I also have a container, one like a little bucket that came with soil and tomato seeds and they are about 2 inches right now. Hopefully this will be a mild summer and that it will be a good harvest later this year. Now that (hopefully) all the pandemic crazes are over, I will be able to get any additional canning lids or jars that I may need. I have a lot, but if the garden produces very well, you won't know how much more you will need until the time comes. I think I will also try to find a new food mill this year too. I ordered one from Amazon and was very disappointed with it. The blade did not connect with the bottom so basically was ineffective. Fingers crossed I can find a nicer one this year. Just aggravated with myself that I let my old one get messed up. All I can figure is that it didn't dry completely and developed rust. Think I've had it for about 25 years, good little machine.

Just got in from the garden and got the greenhouse set up! Here is the box, purchased from Rural King.

Decent size, 56x56x77

Walk-in, roll up front flap.

Decent amount of shelf space.

After the plastic stretches out and I get it anchored, the seedlings will get to move into their new home!
