Quilt Challenge Block, Garden Status, 07/12/2021
Good afternoon! Been a bit, but also been a little hectic around here. Was camping a few weeks ago, a lot of storms lately, busy in the garden and, well, pretty much everything else! So proud of the younger men here, the youngest got his drivers permit and a part-time job and the eldest just passed his motorcycle permit test today!! I'm glad that they are hitting their life goals.
Okay, garden. As I said, a lot of storms lately. So, plenty of water and sunny days in between means my garden is flourishing! Hubby came in and asked if I had been out to the greenhouse of late. Of course I haven't! I got all my lovelies planted. To which he responds that he thought I should go out and take a look.....
Jurassic World!!
Giant pumpkin growing from the compost.
Sweet banana pepper.
Where I had to plant the overflow plants. Ended up with about 30 tomato plants!
The rest of the peppers.
Early harvest apple trees completely loaded. Going to have to trim it up more this fall.
Zucchinis. I've already harvested 2!
A sugar pie pumpkin growing in the back there.
Rest of the squash. Cucumbers left front, spaghetti right front, butternut right rear and acorn left rear. Most of them have blossoms but there is a small acorn squash growing. I also ended up with a volunteer zucchini and another squash!
Rear cabbage bed. These weren't coming to head but yesterday looks like they are now.
Front cabbage bed. One was large enough to harvest. Cole slaw.... yummmm!
My poor onions. I had planted these when we were getting the beds ready. Sean didn't realize I had already planted this box. I'm figuring next year when we turn the soil we will have more sprouting up.
On the front right are eggplants with blossoms starting. One of 2 beds of green beans and a line of tomato in the back.
Potatoes.
On with the quilt challenge blocks. I was able to get the one for May finished today. I know, running soooo far behind! This quilt block pattern came from a new for me app, Quilt Cat. I went with the upgraded edition and pleased with what they had. I also like they have a feature that you can design blocks too. So, for May, I went with a tulip motif.
I'm still am not proficient in getting my lines and cuts straight, so more practice for me!
As a reminder, here are the rest. I have a new plan for this. I'm going to window pane the blocks with squares in the pane corners.
I still need to get Aprils made and I will be starting July probably either later this week or next week. This has been an enjoyable craft, I just need to work on slowing down and focusing more on my cuts and stitching.
Alright, all for now. I need to get lunch and get more cleaning done around here. So, until next time, take care and GOD BLESS!!
